Lent has a bit of a reputation for being dull and boring. The emphasis is on giving up various things such as chocolate, caffeine or alcohol. Come to think of it, Lent may actually be an idea whose time is about to come, especially if we rename it 40 days of detox!
At Wesley, during Lent this year we are running the Lent Course "Christ and the Chocolaterie". The Course is based on the Oscar nominated hit film "Chocolat" starring Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp. On the first evening (Monday 27th Febuary) we will watch the film and then over the next five Monday evenings we will explore various issues about God, the world and what it means to be human. Sessions are as follows:
- Monday 27th Febuary 7:30 - 9:30pm "Chocolat"
- Monday 6th March 7:30 - 9:00pm Giving up - the prelude to change.
- Monday 13th March 7:30 - 9:00pm Giving out - the power of a gift.
- Monday 20th March 7:30 - 9:00pm Getting wise - the possibility of change.
- Monday 27th March 7:30 - 9:00pm Getting real - the power of acceptance.
- Monday 3rd April 7:30 - 9:00pm Growing up - the process of change.
The Course will also run at Sheriff Hill Methodist Church on Tuesday afternoons from 2pm starting on 28th February.
Anyone is welcome. There will be no charge!
